Parts of the French Riviera were evacuated late Tuesday and into Wednesday as forest fires burned swathes of land and threatened thousands of people, according to a statement from the Var police. Around 10,000 people were moved from the coastal commune of Bormes-les-Mimosas, which is around 40 km (nearly 25 miles) from the town of Toulon, one of the country's southernmost towns.
A blaze ripped through a building near Dubai’s Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest tower – on Sunday morning, local media reported. According to the Dubai Media Office, the building was a 60-storey construction site expected to be completed by April 2018. The building was named as The Address Residence Fountain Views and nearby roads were closed off, while traffic was diverted as thick smog filled the air.
