Group Brings Petition back to Forefront as Greece Demands Lebanon to Solve Waste Crisis

Amid news that Greece has demanded Lebanon to provide a detailed report on the substances dumped into the sea due to the waste crisis plaguing the country, the Lebanese Environment Movement reminded that a petition, signed by 10452 people from more than 100 countries, was submitted to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program, Erik Solheim, demanding him to protect the Mediterranean Sea from landfills planned to be built on the Lebanese shores as they violate the Barcelona Convention.
