FPM-Backed List Fails to Achieve Landslide Victory in Teachers' Union Elections

The candidate supported by the Free Patriotic Movement and other political forces on Sunday won the elections of the Private School Teachers' Union, failing, however, to achieve a landslide victory against the outgoing union's head Nehme Mahfoud. The list led by Mahfoud, backed by the Kataeb party and civil society groups, garnered 43% of the votes, whereas the rival list headed by Rudolph Abboud got 57% of the votes.
