UN Chief Demands Lebanon to Disarm Hezbollah

United nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres voiced concern over Hezbollah’s growing arsenal, calling on the Lebanese government and the Army to take action to prevent the group from acquiring more arms and to turn it into a civil political party. In his semi-annual report on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1559, Guterres reiterated that Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian war goes against Lebanon's dissociation policy, demanding President Michel Aoun to set out a defense strategy according to which the Lebanese state would be the only armed authority in the country.
