Ministers Discuss Scope for Wider Lebanese-Saudi Cooperation

As part of President Michel Aoun's visit to Saudi Arabia, ministers of foreign affairs, education, finance, defense, economy, interior and information met with their Saudi counterparts to discuss matters of common interest as well as the scopes of cooperation between the two countries.

Economy Minister Raed Khoury stressed that most of the pending issues have been solved during talks with his Saudi counterpart, adding that a joint committee will be formed to follow-up on bilateral economic interests.

Information Minister Melhem Riachi also met with his Saudi counterpart who said that talks had focused on the need to provide support to Lebanese media outlets, with great professional commitment, so as to help them resume their work.

For his part, Minister Ali Hassan Khalil conferred over common financial issues with his Saudi counterpart who hoped that this visit would yield a positive outcome.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Marwan Hamadeh discussed an agreement of cooperation with his Saudi counterpart, deeming such an understanding as the first step towards normalizing ties between the two countries.
