Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Thursday said that Lebanon is not affiliated to any axis and is not part of the regional arms race, reaffirming commitment to the policy of dissociation towards regional conflicts.
"Lebanon is an independent Arab country that has its own Constitution, laws, State institutions as well as Arab and international obligations. It’s a country that has stressed its commitment to self-disassociation; anything other than this principle is a mere viewpoint that is not binding for the State,” Hariri said in a speech he delivered at a ceremony commemorating the 14th assassination anniversary of his father, PM Rafik Hariri.
The premier reiterated that he won't allow anyone to disrupt the work of the new government, adding that it is unacceptable to miss the chance that is currently available for Lebanon.
"The decision and its execution are in our hands," he stated. "We either take up the challenge and cooperate to take the country to a real rescue chance, or we let it drown into a futile arguments."
“President Michel Aoun, Speaker Berri and I have decided to turn the government and Parliament into a work cell," he added, outlining his readiness to cooperate with all political forces, with no exception, despite the existing differences.
