Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday called for lifting immunities of all those who were involved in the Beirut blast that has rocked the city’s main port a year ago, deeming the explosion as an organized crime against humanity. “Tuesday, August 4th, at 6:07 PM, the Lebanese government killed 218 people and injured 7000,” Gemayel said in a speech marking the first anniversary of the Beirut Port explosion.
Former Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankache on Monday deemed the testimonies of the Beirut blast victims’ families as painful, saying that the biggest disaster is that one year has passed and nothing has changed yet. “The testimonies of the Beirut blast victims are painful. For that reason, we did not accept for our lives to be the same after the explosion,” Hankache wrote on Twitter.
