Port of Beirut
Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday called for lifting immunities of all those who were involved in the Beirut blast that has rocked the city’s main port a year ago, deeming the explosion as an organized crime against humanity. “Tuesday, August 4th, at 6:07 PM, the Lebanese government killed 218 people and injured 7000,” Gemayel said in a speech marking the first anniversary of the Beirut Port explosion.
Vice President of the Kataeb Party Georges Jreij on Tuesday stressed on lifting immunities of Lebanese officials in response to the devastating explosion that has jolted Beirut port on August 4th , extending his deepest condolences to the victims’ families.
Amnesty International Monday accused the Lebanese authorities of relentlessly and shamelessly obstructing the investigation into last year's deadly Beirut port blast. A year after the August 4 explosion that killed more than 200 people and leveled entire neighborhoods of the city, no official has been brought to justice.
