It’s been a busy few weeks for Hollywood. From the Golden Globes to SAG Awards, the A-List have been making many red carpet appearances this awards season, finishing up with the Oscars last Sunday.
And the theme of the season seems to have been sustainability. Ahead of the ceremony, the Baftas asked its attendees not to wear something new on the red carpet this year, and while that plea was largely ignored, there are some stars who have been making sustainable fashion choices this awards season.
Joaquin Phoenix kicked things off at the Golden Globes by announcing he would wear the same Stella McCartney tuxedo to all awards shows this season. We’ve done the math, and the suit made five appearances on the red carpet since the beginning of January.
Saoirse Ronan also chose to re-wear this season, taking fabric from the black Gucci duchess gown she wore for the Baftas and transforming it into the plunging peplum top half of the A-line black and lilac gown she wore for the Oscars.
While there is certainly plenty of talk around sustainable dressing on the red carpet this year, some celebrities have been recycling their red carpet looks for years.
Take Cate Blanchett, for example. The actress is often seen re-wearing her most-loved red carpet looks. From the Baftas to Cannes Film Festival, she is not afraid to be seen sporting the same look twice.
