Alcohol Consumption Linked to Higher Breast Cancer Risk

Alcohol consumption is linked to a higher risk of breast cancer among women, but very few of them are aware of this fact, a new study has revealed.

British researchers, who analyzed the data of 205 women undergoing breast cancer screening or seeking treatment for breast cancer symptoms at a U.K. hospital, found that only 20% knew that drinking alcohol is a risk factor for the disease.

Alcohol is estimated to be accountable for around 5% to 11% of all breast cancer cases, with higher risks seen among heavy drinkers.
