Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said on Monday that Lebanon and the United States have divergent viewpoints on Hezbollah.
“They consider it a terrorist party, while we don’t,” he told Russia Today on the sidelines of his visit to Moscow as part of the delegation accompanying President Michel Aoun.
“Nothing prevents Lebanese sides from dealing with Hezbollah since it is a Lebanese component,” he added.
Bassil stressed that Washington’s aid to Lebanon is unconditional, affirming that any attempt to link this assistance with a plan to settle the refugees would be rejected.
“Reports claiming that Syrian refugees are being tortured upon their return to their homeland are aimed at preventing them from going back home,” he said.
