Hankache Criticizes 'Random' Measures to Boost State's Revenues

Kataeb MP Elias Hankache criticized the telecom minister's proposal to cancel a 2014 decision granting postpaid cellphone subscribers 60 minutes free of charge, condemning the random and reckless measures being devised to purportedly reduce the deficit.

In remarks published in Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Hankache called for long-term, comprehensive plans that would benefit the State's treasury without taking its toll on the citizens.

"Unfortunately, we have become used to taking easy choices, such as annulling some of the very few facilities that the citizens get, instead of boosting the State's revenues by controlling squandering, ending tax evasion, and taking other measures that won't get into people's pockets," he pointed out.
