Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Wednesday slammed the plan to increase the salaries of employees at the out-of-use railway network, blasting it as an act of squandering.
Gemayel posted on his Twitter account a picture of the agenda of the upcoming Cabinet session, highlighting an item which encloses a draft decree aimed at raising the minimum wage and salaries in the railway network.
“Can someone explain to us why this item has been included in the government's agenda? Is it an act of piracy?” Gemayel asked on Twitter.
The country's once thriving rail network has been out of service since the 1975 civil war.
