Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Thursday met with Lebanese-born Australian Minister of Consumer Affairs of the State of Victoria and lawmaker, Marlene Kairouz, with talks featuring high on the Lebanese-Australian affairs and the situation of the Lebanese expatriates in Australia.
During the meeting held at the Kataeb's headquarters in Saifi, the pair also stressed on the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries and tackled the Syrian refugee crisis burdening the Lebanese economy.
“I thank MP Gemayel for the productive meeting. I expressed my readiness to help the party in its support of Lebanese villages’ municipalities,” Kairouz stated.
She called on Australians, especially those with Lebanese origins, to visit their homeland and to help promote tourism and support the Lebanese economy at this dire time.
The meeting was attended by Former Lebanese Economy Minister, Alain Hakim, and the party’s International Affairs Officer, Marwan Abdallah.
