Berri Called on Cabinet to Schedule a Near Meeting

Speaker Nabih Berri on Wednesday called on the Cabinet to meet even if a consensus on the method of ruling against the Qabr Shamoun clashes which resulted in the death of two bodyguards of the Minister of State for Refugee Affairs Saleh Gharib.

“A Cabinet meeting should be scheduled within a week as it has been held up for three weeks while several matters need to be addressed such as key state appointments, matters related to Rome 2 and CEDRE conferences, waste crisis management, the recent crackdown on undocumented foreign labor, especially Palestinian employees, and the 2020 state budget,” MP Ali Bazzi quoted Berri as saying during his weekly meeting with deputies in Ain Al-Tineh.

Bazzi also told reporters that Berri hailed lawmakers and the Parliament’s contributions in ratifying the 2019 state budget last week, reckoning that the Lebanon’s oil and gas exploration on land and sea borders is wheeling a positive progress.

The Speaker met with Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan and Minister of State for Refugee Affairs Saleh Gharib to discuss the recent developments of last month's Qabr Shamoun incident.
