The Lebanese Army celebrated on Thursday its 74th anniversary during a ceremony named “the Diamond Jubilee of Independence” and chaired by President Michel Aoun.
Two hundred and sixty-nine officers, consisting of 166 Army officers, 90 Internal Security Forces members, 11 from General Security and two from Customs, will graduate during the Army Day ceremony which took place at the Shukri Ghanem barracks in Fayyadieh.
The graduates received commemorative swords from the President.
For the occasion, Lebanese and Kataeb politicians took to Twitter to honor the day.
“We are armed with you,” Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel wrote.
“Our sole weapon,” Kataeb MP Elias Hankache said attaching the caption with a picture of the army and the Lebanese flag.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri, Army commander Joseph Aoun and Defense Minister Elias Bou Saab.
