The Kataeb party launched an Organ and Tissue Donation campaign on Wednesday intended to increase awareness on the importance of organ donation as thousands who are yearly dying in Lebanon could be saved.
“Saving people’s lives, sustainable development, and social growth are the core of our political and social struggles and work in the party. We aspire for a free independent country where a person can live with dignity,” Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel said.
“We believe that everything rests on the human being, exceptionally human life which ought to be a priority at any given country, party or organization,” he acclaimed.
“The Kataeb lawmakers will hold themselves at the disposal of the organ donation committee to propose laws and legislations that would facilitate its work,” he declared, highlighting the importance of holding campaigns to raise awareness and educate people about organ donation.
The campaign meeting was held at the party’s headquarters in Saifi and was attended by several figures: Vice President of the National Organization for Organ and Tissues Donation and Transplantation Dr. Antoine Stephan, Project Manager at NOD-Lb and founder and actual President of the Middle East Transplant Coordinators Organization Farida Younan, judge Sheikh Ghandi Makarem, Father Georges Raed, MP Elias Hankache, party's Secretary-General Nazar Najarian, Bickfaya's mayor Nicole Gemayel, the Progressive Women’s Union connected to the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) along with a number of women’s movements associates in Lebanon.
