Kataeb politburo member Serge Dagher on Monday pointed out that the party has played its role properly as an opposition force as it has repeatedly warned of the country’s bankruptcy and settlements’ outcomes, but it was accused of populism.
“It is shameful for the President to renege on Parliamentary Consultations after that he had called for them. If next Monday’s Consultations emerge as a charade, the party will reconsider partaking in it,” He told MTV channel, highlighting the constitutional responsibility for them to be held.
“The party does not speak on behalf of the revolution but its rhetoric is national,” Dagher stated.
He reiterated that the Kataeb is calling for an inclusive civil state to pull out the country from the past decade.
The Kataeb official retorted to referring to the Kataeb party as an “Authority Party” or as a “Family Party”, noting that all parties are at times in power and at others in the opposition.

“Along our journey, we have made both right and wrong decisions, but we were never part of the political assassination notion,” he indicated.
“It is more in our interests to let bygones be bygones and make a fresh start,” he urged moving past the civil war.
“Yesterday, we have nominated Ambassador Nawaf Salam for premiership and there are various other competent names,” he outlined.
