President Michel Aoun stressed that none of his family members has been ever involved in corruption, saying that Lebanon’s political class protects the corrupted people as it has direct benefits from them.
“No one in my family is involved in corruption, but if there were any doubts that someone might be involved, I will deal with him as I deal with others,” Aoun told French magazine Paris Match published on Thursday.
“I do not regret being a president at all in this difficult stage the country is going through,” Aoun said, affirming that it is no way for him to resign from his post.
Aoun stressed that he fully understands the anger of those affected by the Beirut port blast, vowing that the investigation will be transparent so as to hold everyone responsible behind this explosion accountable.
