Canada's Foreign Minister: Corruption Must Stop!

Canada's Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne held talks with President Michel Aoun and his Lebanese counterpart Charbel Wehbe at the Baabda Palace, with talks featuring high on the latest developments in the Lebanon, namely the blast that devastated the city earlier this month.

Canada's Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne on Thursday voiced solidarity with Lebanon, stressing his country’s willingness to be a part in the reconstruction efforts following the Beirut port blast that rocked the city in early August.

“Corruption must stop, the youth have spoken, the street has spoken, and their cry must be heard," Champagne told reporters after his meeting with President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace.

Following talks with caretaker Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe, Champagne announced that Canada has offered Lebanon $30 million in assistance following the port explosion, stressing the importance of reforms so as to start aids.
