Lebanon Marks October 17 Revolution Anniversary

Lebanon on Saturday marked the one year anniversary since the October 17th revolution where people from all over the country have unified, calling for real change, an end to the sectarian political system and an improvement in basic services.

Dozens of protesters took to the streets earlier this morning, planning to march from the main Beirut protest camp towards the port where a nationwide candlelit vigil is set to be held at  at 6:07 p.m.

Activists have installed a statue at the site to mark the anniversary of their October 17 "revolution".

The Lebanese Army and security forces have been deployed heavily in Beirut downtown in preparation for demonstrations.
