French President Emmanuel Macron met with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Elysee Palace, with talks featuring high on the human rights in Egypt and the formation of a new government in Lebanon.
French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday stressed that the Lebanese people should not remain held as hostages by any of the current political class, calling for forming a new government as soon as possible.
“Lebanon is suffering from the failure to implement the required political path,” Macron said during a press conference following his meeting with Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi at the Elysee Palace.
For his part, El-Sisi voiced his country’s ongoing support to Lebanon, calling the Lebanese political forces to give the government a chance to solve the country’s problems.
“The Arabs have never abandoned the Lebanese people,” he said.
