The Kataeb party deemed the protection of parliamentary elections as a national duty.
The Kataeb party on Wednesday deemed the protection of parliamentary elections as a national duty, affirming that there will be no salvation for Lebanon except with a real change deriving from people’s will through the ballot boxes.
“We call the international institutions to fortify and protect the Lebanese’ rights with democratic accountability through exerting pressure to thwart the plan of extending the current parliament’s term,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb political bureau after its weekly meeting.
The party stressed that the current ruling system has no intention to uncover the reservoirs of embezzlement and thefts of depositors’ funds, warning against avoiding the one-year deadline stipulated in the law to lift the banking secrecy which was approved for this purpose.
“We must continue to pressure and demand the implementation of the investigation as well as to remove the obstacles hindering it in a bid to find out who stole the Lebanese’ money,” it added.
The political bureau slammed the authority for the flawed parade that was held at the Beirut airport to receive the coronavirus vaccine as if it was an achievement, blaming it for the delay in its arrival in Lebanon in the first place.
