Hankache Deems Current Government as a Settlement Government

Former Kataeb lawmaker Elias Hankache on Monday stressed that the current government came as a result of an Iranian-French settlement, saying that it is composed of the same pillars which will never be able to save Lebanon or the Lebanese.

“Lebanon needs a government, but this government will cover up some of the people's pain until the parliamentary elections are held,” Hankache said in an interview with “Sawt Beirut International” radio station.

Hanakache stressed the importance of separating the Public Prosecution Office from the Ministry, saying that last time the Lebanese have witnessed the presence of 17 ministers running for elections and how ministers can take advantage of their ministries in exchange for the votes of voters.

"How can the Interior Minister, who is supposed to be at the same distance, be a candidate in the parliamentary elections?" he asked.
