Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Monday deemed the new government as an extension of the previous ones, saying that this government was formed with the sponsorship of Hezbollah.
“This is an internal game within the ruling elite by giving confidence. We, as the Kataeb party, resigned from the Parliament because we believe that no reforms could have been made while Hezbollah is controlling the country ,” Gemayel said in an interview with Al-Hadath.
Gemayel deemed the holding of parliamentary elections as the key of change; affirming that the Lebanese have the right to hold all the responsibles, of this deteriorated situation, accountable.
“Prime Minister Najib Mikati is not concerned regarding the violation of the Lebanese’ sovereignty. Lebanon is already violated since the country is under Hezbollah’s grip,” he pointed out.
“The country’s problem is not only related to electricity, but there is a set of reforms and measures that must be taken, starting with the controlling of borders and the smuggling through which the Iranian fuel enters Lebanon illegally without paying any fees to the state and without inspecting the goods to ensure their compliance with the specifications,” he added.
“Destruction, death, and the massive immigration is what we have seen from this ruling system,” he concluded.
