Indian Billionaire Makes Whopping Donation to Charity

An Indian billionaire is granting an astronomical amount of money to charity in what may be the country's biggest single donation ever, CNN reported.

Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro, is giving shares in his company worth nearly $7.5 billion to his philanthropic foundation; his donations over the past years are now totaling $21 billion.

The 73-year-old tech tycoon, whose fortune is estimated at more than $18 billion, was among those who signed the Giving Pledge, a campaign launched by Warren Buffett with Bill and Melinda Gates to encourage billionaires around the world to give most of their wealth to charity.
