Sand Structure Breaks Record for Highest-Ever Sandcastle

A new sand building with turrets, multiple levels and a desirable seaside location has seized the world record for the highest sandcastle ever constructed.

The 17.66-meter-high sand structure, which had been in the making since May, was displayed at the Sand Sculptures Festival in Binz, on the Baltic Sea island of Ruegen, Germany.

The design resembles a "Game of Thrones" city, with a dragon at its foot and walls encircling towering turrets.

Multiple sand artists collaborated to make it real, with organizer Thomas van Dungen being awarded a Guinness World Record certificate in recognition of the achievement.

The used sand was imported from the Netherlands given that it's easier to sculpt.
