Famous Lebanese composer, musician and lyricist Elias Rahbani died on Monday at the age of 83.

Famous Lebanese composer, musician, conductor and lyricist Elias Rahbani died on Monday at the age of 83.

Born in 1938, in Antelias, Lebanon, Rahbani is one of the three Rahbani brothers and is probably the most prolific in terms of recordings.

He is a promoter of the Lebanese vague of Occidental song (since 1961) specially French, and has won numerous awards and much critical acclaim for his works.

He has composed around 800 pieces (500 oriental & 300 occidental), not including musical scores for film and theater.
