Uber to Start Testing Commercial Drone Delivery

Uber is set to launch a pilot program consisting in delivering fast food via drones in San Diego, California, this summer.

The company is collaborating with McDonald's to launch the tests, with work now focusing on designing special packages to keep all types of food intact throughout the delivery process.

Designated safe landing zones will be made available to drop off the food, and an Uber courier will pick it up for delivery.

Some Uber cars may also be equipped with QR codes on their roofs and, therefore, could serve as landing zones.
