President of the Lebanese University, Fouad Ayyoub, filed a lawsuit against Voice of Lebanon radio presenter Nawal Lichaa Abboud over an episode she had hosted to discuss the conditions of the state-run academic establishment.
Lebanon's Press Club condemned the lawsuit as a blow to the freedom of expression, deeming it as another attempt to muzzle and suppress the free voices in the country.
"We shall not keep mum about this!" the statement read.
The Press Club called for a large movement of solidarity with the radio host, stressing the need to take all the steps needed to reverse this legal action.
