Thai Government Plans to Pay People to Visit Regions Other than Bangkok

Thailand's government is set to establish a fund of $467,730 to pay people to visit regions in the country other than Bangkok so as to boost domestic tourism, as reported by Thai news source The Nation.

If approved by the government, the Finance Ministry's proposal would allow Thai citizens who are at least 18 years old to sign up for the program and receive $47 USD via an e-payment system; a sum that can be spent at participating shops in 55 provinces that are part of the campaign.

“We aim to launch the campaign before July this year,” a representative from the Finance Ministry told The Nation.
